As you requested I’m using the forums for questions & feedback.
Thanks for your feedback re my question in my last email. Appreciated. However, remember I also asked for your input whether my set ups in my short person set were too long? Appreciate feedback re that. Now re your request for feedback re FNF:

OMG. The eat his daughter line is great!
Make sure you set it up correctly. By the time you say “eat his daughter” the audience needs to already know the information about Attila The Hun for it to make sense. Keep the writing short and concise to make the joke pop.
If it is what you say it is… I love it :p
After I say Hitler didn’t ride across the world cutting heads with the sword of Mars. That my friends, was Atilla The Hun.
I’m adding, “I mean, that son of a bitch got his hands dirty”
I’m changing Greenhouse budget to cutting 60% of Sesame Streets’s budget. (it feels funnier)
I like “eating his two sons.” I’m not sure you need to know the…[Read more]
Wow. Great analysis Bruce.
I think my personal favorite is “What world do you live in where you’re constantly f****in'” [draws weapon from holster repeatedly]. It really lands a hard blow to the argument that having a gun “somewhere in the house” is enough.
LOL. I enjoyed this premise. I especially like the idea that people overuse Hitler. It seems like that’s people’s “default bad guy.”
First, I’d say you should explore the comedic conflict regarding how/why people use Hitler, even if there are famous and non-famous people who exemplify what a person is doing wrong. For example, you would never see…[Read more]
Sorry for the late reply.
I wouldn’t quite put this under opinion-based, but it’s some fun stuff.
I love the idea of advertisers being a dick to you. When you phrase it like that there’s a lot of violation for you to play with. Your material gave me this mental image of people trying to “fix something very broken.”
Try this premise:…[Read more]
Now, don’t take this wrong…
Try not to take this wrong…
But I think Hitler might have gotten a bad rap.
See, I knew it.
I’m not saying what he did was right.
But he never rode across half the world on a horse and chopped off heads with the Sword of Mars,
And that my friend, was Atilla The Hun.
Yet, we always invoke Hitler’s…[Read more]
Decided to go out of my comfort zone and write a joke that may or may not fully “qualify” as opinion based but here you go.
I plan to use this as my opening joke for my next week’s 10 minute performance. It is still a work in progress but I’m getting there. …[Read more]
Here’s my favorite punchlines from this bit.
It’s called an ‘amendment.’”
If you can’t change something that’s called an “amendment”,
See, many of you need a thesaurus more than you need a constitution.
It calls for action/change–or at least the theoretical ability to change (ban guns?) something that is built into our constitution bu…[Read more]

Joke #1: Mother in Law (enhanced version)
She is a remarkable and sweet lady who never wants to be a burden to anyone. Recently, after dinner the waiter asked her if she want some coffee or tea.
She replied “what’s ever easiest for you.”
So the waiter brought her an empty cup!
What really annoyed me the most was whe…[Read more]
The extra line is a tag line. It doesn’t really have extra comedic tension. A good tag line lets you play inside of the juxtaposition you create in the punchline. Personally, I think playing around inside the juxtaposition is one of the best parts. Once you find some pieces that work, you play around with them and recombine them in different…[Read more]
Thanks for that Jared. Will see what I can do about that. I didn’t win mt heat unfortunately, but it was a great experience to be in a professional comedy venue – the main one in Sydney actually. Despite nerves (which everyone had) it was quite a bit of fun. I was a lot more relaxed on stage than I expected, so I take that as a positive. Still…[Read more]

Hey everyone, quick heads up. I’ll be on vacation for a few days. Feel free to email me any questions you have. I likely won’t find time to do any critiques until I’m back. I’ll be back in 2-3 days.
When I come back I’ll be posting more content on how to develop opinions and observations into material.
